Raphaela was born in Ried i.I., Austria. After completing her studies at the Wiener Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst, cum laude, she continued studying recorder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Walter van Hauwe. As a soloist and member of various ensembles Raphaela performs regularily in Europe, Asia and the United States.
Next to the Ensemble Ziggurat she is a member of the Renaissance ensemble Mezza Luna, Ensemble Thuraia, the Japanees Coala Consort and “The Running Duo”. Raphaela has performed with the Nieuw Ensemble, Atlas Ensemble, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Nederlands Vokaal Laboratorium, Residentie Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest and at the Salzburger Festspiele under Frans Brüggen. She was awarded prizes at the International Recorder Symposium Calw in Germany, the Early Music Festival in Brugge/ Belgium and at the International Gaudeamus Competition in the Netherlands. In 2002 Raphaela was teaching at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. Since 2002 Raphaela has been studying duduk, the Armenian oboe, with Gevorg Dabaghian in Yerevan, Armenia.
